Columbia County Emergency Management is compiling a list of volunteer resources available during times of emergencies. Due to the nature of our rural community, volunteers are critical to supplement local government responders during crisis's. This list will be used to inventory and catalog volunteer personnel and equipment that would be available to support local agencies and respond to local emergencies. This list will then be available to our local fire, sheriff, ems, hospital, public health and public works agencies to be used as a call-out list when additional help is needed.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer may do so. Whether you have a tractor and disc to offer during a fire, or would like to help answering phones at the Emergency Operations Center, your help is needed.
Emergency training will be made available to those who volunteer. Volunteers will be asked to fill out a Emergency Worker Registration Card to be kept on file. Due to the sensitivity of some positions, a background check may be required based on position. However most positions will not require this.
Columbia County has a proud history of volunteers rising to the occasion and responding to disasters that have affected our home. Please join us.
